About us

Established in the spring of 1998, Ma Zone Inc. quickly became a destination for design-savvy clients and industry professionals alike. The award-winning retail showroom later introduced a dedicated studio space, the Design Lab, where founder Armin Martiros works closely with clients on interior design and event projects.

After more than two decades of success, the business evolved and relocated to 853 Pape Avenue, just north of the Danforth. Today, the Design Lab continues to reflect a refined blend of European and Canadian sensibilities, offering curated products, artwork, and furniture within a boutique studio experience.

In addition to interior design services, the studio provides event design and creative direction tailored to each client’s needs. At its core is a simple philosophy: we connect deeply to the objects and spaces around us. Through thoughtful design, those everyday experiences can be elevated into something meaningful and exceptional.

Armin Martiros

Armin Martiros is a Toronto-based designer, creative entrepreneur, and founder of Ma Zone Inc., known for his distinctive approach to interiors, merchandising, and event design.

Born in Tehran, Iran, and of Armenian descent, Armin was introduced early on to the importance of art, design, and presentation, particularly through Persian culture’s emphasis on tabletop styling and ceremonial entertaining. After a brief time in London, England, he settled in Toronto, where he pursued studies in fine arts and culinary management.

In 1994, Armin launched his first venture, A-line Visual Merchandising, working with prominent Toronto properties including The Hudson’s Bay Centre, Royal Bank Plaza, and Hazelton Lanes. His work in visual storytelling and retail environments led to collaborations with boutique retailers and the development of a home accessories line crafted from recycled iron. This was an early reflection of his innovative and design-focused mindset.

This success inspired the opening of Ma Zone Home Décor on May 15, 1998. The boutique quickly gained recognition for its unique aesthetic and philosophy of “proud living,” the idea of surrounding yourself with objects that uplift and inspire. The store became a favourite among designers and discerning clients, earning extensive media coverage and industry recognition.

Armin’s work has been featured in over 100 publications, and he has appeared on television alongside notable design personalities including Lynda Reeves and Debbie Travis. In 2003, he received the prestigious Best of Show award at the Interior Design Show, highlighting his expertise in spatial design and exhibition installations.

Beyond his professional work, Armin has contributed to the design community through education and mentorship. He has served on the advisory committee for Seneca College’s visual design program and later became Chair, helping to shape curriculum and support emerging talent.

Community involvement remains an important part of his practice, with contributions to various charitable initiatives, including fundraising efforts for Princess Margaret Hospital and curated events such as Women of Style and Substance.

With decades of experience and a passion for creating meaningful spaces, Armin continues to bring a thoughtful and elevated approach to every project.

“Never settle for the ordinary when you can achieve the extraordinary.”
